No, the point was that VT is a Tech school so often the student attracted to it wants to major in architecture, animal husbandry, nutrition, vet skills, engineering, etc. so VT is not often the 3 choice after UVA and W&M. It's the in-state Virginian's first choice because of the specialized nature of the courses offered.

No, the point was that VT is a Tech school so often the student attracted to it wants to major in architecture, animal husbandry, nutrition, vet skills, engineering, etc. so VT is not often the 3 choice after UVA and W&M. It's the in-state Virginian's first choice because of the specialized nature of the courses offered.

For an instate option. Any other instate colleges that are comparable to CalTech other than VT?

VT is more like an NC State or any of the A&M (Agriculture and Mechanical) colleges. CalTech is a private school that focuses on engineering and the sciences.
