What's a downstream tax increase? You mean less taxpayer subsidies? The LMC doesn't pay taxes.
DP.. the tax breaks for the mc will expire in a few years. I'm thinking these folks don't know this. That's why they think the tax bill is fine because it will create jobs - yes, they actually believe this, but even a Reagan economists doesn't believe in trickle down anymore. Unfortunately, these mc people believe everything Trump and their R leaders tell them.
For LC, they will most likely lose the ACA subsidies, which means they will most likely not be insured. So, while not a direct increase in tax, it's still a huge loss for them.
As I understand it, medicare will also probably be slashed. That will hurt many older Americans. AARP has an article about this. I find this part interesting because many older Americans voted for R and Trump.
So basically, the tax bill screws:
- middle class in a few years when the cuts expire for them ( but they don't expire for the rich)
- lower class (losing ACA coverage and probably food stamps
- seniors (losing some medicare funding)
- upper middle class whose taxes will go up
The tax bill winners:
- big corporations (not small business)
- the very rich (like Trump and all his cronies)
Another DP. When the tax bill passes EVERYONE will lose. We will be extremely weak economically and that’s when we’ll be attacked.

Despite all our education, the vast knowledge attainable via the internet, and miraculous technological breakthroughs, we STILL have folks getting hung up on tribalist wedge issues and supporting politicians who want to destroy their economic security. The wealthy have been doing this for millennia and workers are still too dumb to see them for the con artists they actually are.
This is well-stated, thank you.
How is it well stated? It doesn't matter who you vote for, it's a rigged system. Corporate overlords control everything.

SS is fixable. Easily fixable.
Medicare is not.

Marco Rubio says that the tax plan is just the first step before "instituting structural changes to Social Security and Medicare" benefits to reduce the federal deficit.

Something tells me this won't affect their support of Trump one bit.
