It is, at best, naive to assume that if I knew I liked boys instead, I was going through a phase. It is more likely homophobia.
With that said, there is liking, and there is "experimenting.". As a teen, stuff happened with boys. Turns out one of my friends was gay. I did not realize it. He wanted to try oral sex. I had no desire to see him, but he wanted me. I got off. If I had a choice, it would have been a girl.
That is a stage. Horny as hell and looking for a release anywhere. I would not have identified as bi or gay. I knew what I was. My friend knew what he was. It is ok.
Yes but when you were 12- I'm guessing- there were far less options being pushed in your face at all times. Unless you are about 20 years old now, pp, the world is far more sexualized than when you were a teen.
