Let’s be clear and truthful – The “outside sources” that have infiltrated this process are the NAACP and affiliates, they have been on a decades long crusade to “force” communities to change the names of streets, school, libraries, etc. and there tactics are unethical and illegal, using coercion, corruption, and threats to force their agenda upon local governing bodies (and the communities that they govern).
In this case they obviously and clearly forced the school board to vote for a name change even though the majority of the local community were clearly against such a change.
Anyone that opposes their views is automatically labeled as “racists” to shut them up, so everyone (including politicians) are afraid to even mention the NAACP and their agenda to rewrite American history.
The NAACP should be investigated as its methods fit the definition domestic terrorism and their “removing/renaming” agenda is the root cause of a great deal of civil unrest in America. This is not a harmless agenda, it is costing people their lives.
The majority of Americans are not in favor of glorifying the south or slavery, but to try and erase it in favor of an alternate view of reality is just plain wrong.
Slavery was part of the American past, a war was fought, many people died on both sides, but the North won and slavery was abolished. These are the facts, you cannot erase them.

No, but it is set up so the school board can make the ultimate decision, factoring in considerations such as whether the keepers got a majority of the votes, which names did get the votes, what do those name say about what the majority of the community supports....Maybe the keepers should have figured that out. So there should be no crying on either side regardless of what the school board decides, right?

At the end of the day, the school will only have one name. Why couldn't the Marshall and Johns people agree on one name since they both fought against segregation? Then they'd have had one name with 1500 votes to Stuart's 917.
If it ends up Stuart, they'll only have themselves to blame.
The point is the PP's post suggested that if the school board picks a name other than Stuart it would be because of outside forces. The school board could quite reasonably pick a different name and be in line with the community as a majority of those who voted ( all community members) wanted someone pivotal to the ultimate outcome in Brown v Board of Education. No outside forces. Just community members.

Honestly, you ought to read the regulation next time.
The community vote is just intended to inform the Superintendent's decision as to which name or names to recommend to the School Board for further consideration, and then the School Board makes the final decision.
In a field with 73 names, Stuart got more names than any other names, but 80% of the total votes were cast for a name other than the name closest to the current name.
That's a fairly powerful argument for change, and the School Board would be well within its rights to opt for one of the other names.
The community vote is just intended to inform the Superintendent's decision as to which name or names to recommend to the School Board for further consideration, and then the School Board makes the final decision.

If the only goal is saving money, I'm not sure why the school board went through with this whole process. No one will be confused about which Stuart the school is named after. Let's appear to do something while absolutely doing nothing. And let's waste a lot of taxpayer money while we're at it. I can't wait for this exercise in wasting taxpayer money is over.

Well, if you notice--some voted for "off the wall" names which indicates disgust with the whole process. And, I would imagine that the ones who wanted to keep Stuart (which was reflected in prior surveys) were so disgusted they did not show up to vote. Many probably did not even realize that just Stuart was an option.

Oy vey! I don't know what is with these people. Seriously.... Stuart is not an option, really. And there is no way Marshall can happen. BJHS (Johns HS) is a disaster as well.
The school board has never shown much good judgment to date... so I don't have a lot of faith in how this will be resolved.
I'm really surprised Seven Corners or Skyline didn't get more votes. It looks like the direct school community didn't care about changing the name. Seems those most motivated to show up today were those opposed to the change altogether.
Let's see how they spin this data into a decent name.
The school board has never shown much good judgment to date... so I don't have a lot of faith in how this will be resolved.
