Europe and Asia, I hear is a different story.
If anyone has any actual questions about electric cars, we had two for four years and just got a new one. Can try and answer.
My theory about why the carmakers aren't enthusiastic is that they have all these supply chains and deals for the partsthat will all be obsolete. No transmission. No carb. No oil. No fans, exhaust, transmission.... That's a pretty seismic shift in the aftermarket that is coming.
Eh... I understand and support your main point, which is that drastic changes in an industry always meets some resistance due to supply chain considerations, but I wouldn't push it so far as to make it easy to disregard your point. There has not been a carburetor in a new car sold in the US since 1991. I am also pretty sure that there are fans in an electric vehicle as well - just google "Tesla Cooling Fan". In any case, I agree with your larger point.
I do not know that much about non electric cars. Most battery systems are luquid-cooled, also... Or not at all (the leaf, which is an issue ) . Okay then, no carberators. In four years of electric car ownership we've rotated the tires, changed the brake fluid and replaced the cabin filter. That's it. The only other thing we may have to do is replace the tires and someday the 12v

I have a Chevy bolt and we love it. Any car enthusiast would love driving it. It was affordable even before the federal rebate and has given us no problems, but we have only had it for 9 months. But nothing about the car feels incomplete or experimental. We love it. We save $200 a month in gas and our electric bill has not really been impacted, especially since there are so many free charging stations. I love driving by the gas station and watching the poor suckers getting gas or waiting in line.
It is this casual presumption that you know what's good for other people combined with condescending attitude towards the preferences of others that rubs Republicans the wrong way and evoke a natural suspicion for anything that Liberals champion. You like it, we get it, don't decide for the rest of us. You do you, we'll examine the evidence and do a test drive for ourselves to see if any of us as car enthusiasts of varying degrees love driving a Bolt.
Have you actually driven an electric car? Ps I don’t actually care what car you like or whether you like standing in the hot smelly gas station waiting for your car to fill up. Obviously that’s fun for you. You’re reading into the post with your own bias against liberals (I’m not even a liberal) and that’s on you.
Yes, I've driven a Tesla, the acceleration was exhilerating, but the handling is numb and slow compared to similar sized sporty gas engine cars. I find it humorous that you are convinced that any car enthusiast (I am one) would love driving an electric car, but is immediately dismissive and claim that you "don't actually care" when you meet a car enthusiast who disagree with you. You may not be a liberal, but your presumptive and dismissive attitude is very liberal like. Perhaps you should consider joining that party and be among other like minded people?
I have a real question. What do you get from being so rude? Does it make you feel good? Do you actually hate “liberals” that much? Do you actually walk around thinking about how judgmental liberals are of your choices? I cannot imagine that liberals or anyone else actually care that much about you or what you do. I’m serious. Don’t walk around thinking like that. It’s bad for you, it’s bad for the country. I’m sorry I can’t seem to convince you, but I really do not care about what you do. You could be a bot program for all I know. That’s how I think of other posters on this forum. And I only said that car enthusiasts like my car because all of our friends who are car enthusiasts really like my car. I don’t understand how you read so much into this.
Like most republicans, I don't hate liberals, I just have the observation that most liberals are misinformed and have not put in the requisite time and effort to learn and analyze a topic before forming a very strong opinion about it that not only affects their own decisions but they push to affect the decision of others - case in point your ideas about the lovability of electrical vehicles to any car enthusiast. I don't have to walk around thinking about this, liberals take every opportunity to remind me, down to making fun of me getting gas. So if you think that I am rude, it's because I'm pushing back on your attitude - reflect on that for a minute. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to, but Tesla's buyer base has traditionally contained a lot of well funded people who likes tech but few actual car enthusiasts. The fact that you like them and your "car enthusiast" friends like them are just anecdotes - I have no way to ascertain that they are actually car enthusiasts. You don't have to take my word for it, go google "why do car enthusiasts like tesla" and see what the top result is.
Umm... you sound like you have a huge chip on your shoulder. Shake it off. I don’t even have a Tesla nor could I really afford one but you keep talking about it.
You are calling me misinformed when all I expressed was obviously my own opinion. You just seem to be taking DCUM too seriously. This is not the place to go for serious analysis.
Again are you directing your ire at the Republican representatives who could have eliminated electric car subsidies but failed to do so?

I think it should be addressed by taxing the hell out of democrats. For once in their lives, progressives can actually pay for something, instead of demanding everyone else does.
This, this, THIS.
Finally, some rational ideas.

Because... only Republicans currently pay taxes? Dafuq?
Especially since the highest tax paying states are solidly progressive.

I also remember a few decades ago when lib activists and scientists were telling everyone we were heading into another ice age. We were indoctrinated with that in grade school in the 70's. Everyone thought by 2000 we'd be living like Inuits, with glaciers everywhere, starving because we couldn't grow enough food because the world would be so cold by then.
It's the polar opposite (pun intended) of the nonsense being prattled about today.
Fool me once....
And I remember when more information came to light thanks to continued scientific research, the model changed to reflect our improved understanding of the issue. Unlike what conservatives would have done, the "lib activists and scientists " didn't dig in their heels and continue to insist on the threat of a looming ice age despite the new evidence.
And if you don't believe the models, have you noticed that the summers are getting hotter ? And that this has been consistently happening around the world?
https://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/
But you guys keep saying "weather doesn't equal climate".
So which is it? Is weather climate, or not?
If it's hot in the summer that's proof of global warming, according to you. But if it's cold in the winter, well that's just the weather. (Or also proof of global warming, according to leading moonbats).
Your argument is utterly absurd. No matter what happens, it's all evidence to prove your argument.
This is why ordinary people don't trust libs.
"Summers getting hotter" is different than "this summer is hot" you dolt.
You're the dolt, dolt.
Thanks for proving my point.
