My dad loves going to the beach but it is so boring. I hate it so much.

I like really nice big beaches with clear warm water and soft white sand and not too many people. Going to a beach in Hawaii is a very different experience than going to the beach in Delaware.

I love the beach, it's my favorite vacation. We always go just the 3 of us (me, DH and child), and always have an amazing time. We always choose a hotel within walking distance to the beach to make things easier, because we don't need a condo or house since it's just the 3 of us. We always choose a hotel that offers breakfast too. We have breakfast at the hotel, then are at the beach by 8 am. It's very uncrowded in the morning, and I love being there before it's too hot. Our son plays in the sand, we bring tons of pails, shovels, cars, etc. and it's endless entertainment. We don't ever actually swim in the water, just walk along the water.

Around noon we get a casual lunch from the boardwalk (pizza, burger, etc). At 12:30 pm it's getting hot already so we go back to the hotel, put away all the sandy beach gear, and have some quiet time in the hotel or drive around the town/surrounding areas. We eat an early dinner out somewhere (sometimes on the boardwalk), and then return to the beach without all the beach gear around 6 pm and take a long walk/stroll on the beach, and watch the sun set. We also do rides/games in the midways on the boardwalk until it's dark out, then get an ice cream on the board walk, go back to the hotel and sleep really well from such a fun day.

Every day we go to the beach is pretty much like that, we do a week-long beach trip every year, and a few smaller weekend trips throughout the summer and fall, and I love it. I actually get really depressed in late October when it's too cold to go to the beach for the rest of the winter.

hate the beach... it's pretty. But don't like the ocean. I do like the relaxing part of it though.....

I know right? I sometimes wonder if these people grew up in a bubble with only like-minded people.

I love the beach, DH does not. When we go on a "beach vacation" we try that mimic in other activities too like hiking, kayaking, etc.

While I prefer active vacations, having a day to sit and read to the sound of surf and seabirds is very welcome. I can't do it more than 4 days in a row though.

We read, played in the sand, got in the water, walked/ran the beach, had casual dinners, played cards/board games, went to putt putt, did some historical stuff, and vegged as a small family. This is where we do it. Yes, we were all ready to come home, but enjoyed the down time.

We body and board surf all morning, spend an hour in the sand for the little ones, have lunch and siesta, them back took three waves and water, maybe hit a pool then dinner and wall look along beach in fading light. Third day maybe rent a kayak, 4 TH maybe crack open book under sun shade
