I know a girl who got into UVA with 1520/2400 SAT and 3.2-3.3 unweighted GPA, no ECs, no officer positions, no awards, nothing noteworthy except for some volunteer work, average essays (poor writer in fact) and recommendations, no hooks, not URM. This person would have a tough time getting into UMD or any decent colleges.
Is she majoring in nursing by any chance?
No. She is majoring in (trying at least)the easiest major possible under the sun (not Art History, not anything related to sports or physiology etc. and not fine arts).
Drama or Disability studies, or linguistics then.
I believe drama comes under "fine arts", I have never heard of "disability studies" and "linguistics" is not an easy major.
