I agree with this summary, though I would add that clearly it's not all white parents. If it were, schools would be either 100% white or 0% white. Ours is about 25% white and it's exactly where we want to be.
It could still be all white parents, because you can only make the choices that are available to you. So in the real world, a white parent would choose the whiter school over the less white school.
I have heard white parents with white children, in real life, say to me (I am white too), "I don't want my child to go to that school because I don't want my child to be a minority in their school." There are various things I could say in response, but generally I say, "My white children have always been minorities in their school, and so far it seems to be working out fine."

Would an upper/middle income, educated black parent choose to send their children to a high poverty (50%+) FARMS school if they had a choice to send them to a lower FARMS rate school with a bit less diversity?
Read the article by Nikole Hannah-Jones. Also, there was an article in the Washington Post - and believe me I did a lot of reading prior to my daughter enrolling in school years ago (she graduates from high school next month) - that talked about the experience of a family in Alexandria that was trying to make the decision of whether their neighborhood is "good enough." They made the decision that it was.

Could you better summarize the article? It's way too long.
Virtually every middle class family in my neighborhood stopped attending a "diverse" school because of all the problems associated with the students attending the school. My experience was similar to what is described in the Baltimore schools thread. I still have friends from the old neighborhood, but not regrets going to a 99% white school after that experience.

White flight happened in my children's old school because the white families feared competition from Asian students. Actually, it was a blessing because my children had the best of two worlds. A diverse school that was an academic powerhouse. I don't mind diversity at my children's current school because there are many African and Asian immigrant families who value education. We don't need white students to make our school great. The students at my children's school can run circles around white students. White Americans don't want to buck up and play ball with us because academically speaking we will demolish them in every category. White Americans have done a number on African Americans and Latinos in regards to racist educational practices. Those practices don't work on Asian and African immigrant families. They can leave our schools because we don't care. We prefer that they leave because their children are slowing our children down. Unlike African Americans and Latinos we don't give a damn rather you like us or not. Nor will we beg to have a seat at your table. Asians can and we have made our own tables by becoming the most wealthy and educated individuals in this country. White people like to be dominant. It infuriates them to know that minority children are outperforming their children. I wish their focus was more on equality, but white people's egos are too fragile and insecure. They don't want their children being educated in an environment with lions. So, the leave and go to schools where they can feel superior. It's the nature of the beast. Children who are not academic alphas will be devoured in a predominately Asian school. Academic alphas of all races don't complain they do. Betas run away when they realize they can no longer challenge the alphas.
Some minorities don't need nor do we want white people to help diversify our schools. We already got that covered. Whites don't want equality. They want domination. If they want to flee to low performing schools, then good riddance!

What exactly do you mean by "quality"? We chose a school with a pretty good rating that is extremely diverse, over other places that are almost entirely white and higher ratings. All to me it means is that the peers may have some disadvantages but that says nothing about the teachers and how they handle the classroom.
