You can't be enrolled in two schools at the same time. If you accept a space at LAMB it will be entered in the city-wide student database. There may be a slight lag because they don't use MSDC, but the system would detect if you tried to enroll in a common lottery school in addition to LAMB
It could be a months-long lag of a family holding two spots, not just a slight lag. OSSE is the only connection between LAMB and My School DC schools and they don't catch dual enrollments in real time. LAMB really should participate in the common lottery.
Yes, this is yet another thing (the lottery) LAMB doesn't handle well. What super secretive reason does LAMB have for not participating in the common lottery?

They usually make sure siblings get in together.
Why don't they let in after K again? And how do that they get away with that - this is a public school.
This is basic stuff. Do a DCUM search.
Additionally I'm so tired of people going to DCUM and trying to get their second grader with no language background in an immersion school. Be realistic. Don't wreck your poor child's self esteem so you can tell people they speak mandarin. It's sad.
You do know not all people are white moms on DCUM? You do know it's possible that a mom of a student that speaks better Spanish than your snowflake can also be on DCUM right?
(1) not a white parent
(2) than do a basic DCUM search and go educate yourself. This has been covered extensively.
PP you quoted. I was a NP. I just wanted to point out that there are native Spanish folks in DC. I understand that LAMB doesn't accept after a certain grade and gave no issue with it, but you shouldn't assume all posters don't have language background. Regardless of your race, your post was very narrow minded.

Anonymous wrote:9:47 sounds like she's one of those "but my nanny swore she spoke to her only in Spanish, so it makes sense to force your third grader in an immersion school!" Types. This poster is also known as the "if it sounds good on the Christmas card update, it's the best option for my child". And if your point is that Spanish speaking children should be given a preference, I agree with you. Now convince congress of that.

Without a decent explanation
Do your own research and if you think DCUM is the best or only way for you to discover the right way, I worry for your chil
lol I'm a new poster you quoted, just trying to save her from wasting her time searching. A cliff's notes version - you'll find most posts dodging the question altogether and a few posts here and there claiming that new kids would interrupt the classroom dynamic and the teaching methods are so exquisite that a 6 year old couldn't possibly pick them up. If I missed anything feel free to add.
