There are several different drug companies who make phentermine. I find some work better than others. What is the imprint on your pill? Also, does the dr give you the pills or do you take a prescription to a pharmacy?

It is not the generic, white with blue specks, oblong shaped. The Prozac is a generic, green & yellow capsule. He gives the pills to you in the office.

I'm shocked he is giving Adipex. How much is the office visit? And that includes both meds for a month?

About 10 years ago, I had insurance that actually paid for phen. One month I opted to pay $20 instead of $10 to see how it worked and it did not work better than the generic they were giving me then. I just got a prescription filled at Giant yesterday and the pills are marked differently (LCI 1445) than the ones I got 3 months ago, and I'm worried it's not going to be as effective. I went to Giant over Safeway specifically to get a certain generic and it didn't happen.

Btw, I used GoodRx yesterday and got 90 phen for $18.26 at Giant.

I did think I was getting acne from it, but had been using Differin about a week before starting the pills. So not sure if it was the differin, which is an initial side effect, or the phent. For about two weeks my skin was pretty active, but now it is clearer than it has been since I was 12. Dr. Anchors does say he will prescribe something for the acne, sprio...something.

OP here. I came to post my weekly update. You are so right, though. We desperately need some childcare. I think the cost of schoo is a big obstacle for DH.

But I have faith that we'll work it out. We have a few months to figure it out -- I'm only working with one client this spring/summer, which means I can probably get 6ish hours of sleep per night. And hopefully the rational frame of mind to advocate for myself. Because I am still beyond exhausted from the last six months.

Update:

Weight lost this week: 3.1 lbs
Total weight lost: 11.8 lbs

DH brought home a nasty spring cold, which I have, too. A friend of mine keeps bugging me to do keto, but I can't. Onions are carby. So are bell peppers and tomatoes. I can't. I love tomatoes and onions and peppers. That said, I'll start putting spinach in my eggs in the morning. And I'll restrict oranges and bananas.

As it is, I eat three meals a day. A couple of small snacks. DD went totally off her yogurt (4 oz of plain, full fat organic) and I started eating that so as not to waste it. It's actually delicious. And prepackaged!

This is me. 3/22/17 at 163.2, now 151.6 as of this morning 4/5. Honestly no side effects from the pill at all. Feel great, wish I could stay on if forever. Had my period this week and usually there would be two days it felt like I couldn't eat enough, not this time. It did seem a little bit heavier, but that may be because I'm in my mid-40's and starting to get a little wacky.

Overall clothes are fitter looser, main loss in my stomach & waist (I have an hourglass figure). I had jeans that I could barely zip now require a belt to stay on. My neck & face showed the most change the first week, there was puffiness I hadn't realized was there. I do wish there was more change in my face & arms/upper back. No real change in my breasts, fine with me, I think they are great .

did make the mistake of thinking I could have a cup of regular coffee. Made it about 1/2 through it before heart started racing and eyes went a little loopy. Two or three days a week I do have about 2/3 of a cup of decafe at work.

I work out after dinner for 30-40 minutes 4-5 times a week. Nothing extreme. 1-2 miles on elliptical and some machines.

Sorry, start date was 3/17, not 3/22.

Little things like nothing even sweet tasting (even no-calorie drinks) unless with a meal, then it might be two sips of a soft drink or a bite of an apple fritter. No snacking, even healthy things like nuts. Cut out my 2-3 cups a day of coffee, much easier than I had expected. I always drink a lot of water.

I'm taking both pills around 9am. The hunger and cravings for food do seem to be much more diminished. I do still get a little hungry, or maybe it is just cravings, in the evenings. Start thinking I should have some potato chips but after drinking some water decide that I don't really want them.

No negative side effects, but I am only on 1/2 dose. Not sure if it has affected my sleeping since that was always a little sketchy. I am waking up about 45-60 minutes earlier but am not tired. maybe a little less regular bowel movements, but that could be attributed to eating less food. No acne, knock on wood.

yes, Dr. Anchors is an odd duck, imagine Bernie Sanders going on about starch & skinny woman. He gave me 2 months of both pills, cost was $170. His sister, the receptionist, was very sweet and a big animal lover. she took my blood pressure and asked some basic health questions.

This is me, 157 as of this morning.

There is mild constipation, not an issue for me since that isn't usually an issue for me. I could see where it might make other that are less regular uncomfortable.

I do wake up between 3-4am every morning, but am not tired.

Yesterday I opened up a chocolate candy bar for my husband and didn't even take a little piece.

Interesting, it really is different for everyone. I was still hungry for the first 2-3 days, but then I think it started working better in my system and the .5 pill seemed to work. I took a whole on on Saturday and it was just too much for me, so I'm back to .5 or .75 of a pill most days. I don't think I'd function well on a whole pill everyday I just get too jittery and spacey. I'm 10 days in, lost 7 pounds, feeling good and it's definitely helping with my cravings. I've been barely thinking about food between meals and have to sort of force myself to eat. I'm averaging around 1200 a day, but make sure to have one higher calorie day on the weekend to keep my metabolism up.

He talked about studies saying vigorous exercise correlates to a higher incidence of heart attacks, blamed his own on that.

Just jumping in because both OP and other posters mentioned the hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's. (Most hypo is caused by Hashimoto's). Hashimoto's is an autoimmune disease, and very frequently has environmental triggers, including foods. I've been following an autoimmune protocol diet and adding in intermittent fasting, and my thyroid numbers have improved to the point that I have had to decrease my thyroid meds. And I'm losing weight, which is awesome too -- about 10 pounds in the last month. I went dairy-free at the beginning of the year (which was very hard for me) but I truly think the dairy was affecting me much more than I ever thought so I'm staying away from it.

I highly recommend Dr. Izabella Wentz's books on Hashi's. The point is, there are things you can do about your Hashi's to improve your thyroid functioning and just as importantly to keep the autoimmune disease from progressing.

I don't have an opinion on the phen/pro one way or the other -- just that you don't have to accept hypo or Hashi's as your unavoidable fate because there are things you can do to improve.

I'm a pp who started exactly a week ago. I'm down 5 in a week, which is expected, but normal for me. I generally have no issues losing the same 5-10 pounds, so I'm really curious to see how the next few weeks go. I need to lose 30 or ideally 40. Just took my first full strength pill (37.5) today. It was definitely way stronger, so I'm glad I transitioned on a Saturday. Trying to be attentive to making good choices.
