+1. Were people born yesterday? Kids were taking the whole bowl of candy since I was a kid. The few bowls I saw as s kid were ALWAYS empty. You don't go taking a video and putting it in the internet.

I'll have to say, I was impressed. My dd said she came across a bowl of candy and took 4 pieces and didn't take the whole bowl. But still I would never put a video camera and record it then put online who took it if someone took the whole bowl.

And shame on the Washington Post for making a "story" out of it. I feel sorry formthose kids.

What did they think was going to happen. That's what ALWAYS happens. They knew it would happen and they filmed it for that reason and to start a commotion obviously. They are as bad as the children.

This is a ridiculous response. Kids SHOUKD know not to take the whole bowl. All the bowls they are left out say 'take two pieces'. All of them. I'm pretty sure that the vast majority of them do. Do for them to take the whine bowl is crappy and really self centered.

I know, right? These people are so doing it wrong.

Kids should know, and be taught, that the candy in the bowl is for all trick-or-treaters. They know it's to be shared with their peers. They know they are being greedy if they take the whole bowl. Bad parenting if you think the behavior is ok.

Come on, for folks leaving bowls out on the porch, you're supposed to put an empty bowl out with a note to just take 2 pieces. This way you avoid giving away all of your candy to 1 or 2 kids who take more than their fair share AND on seeing the empty bowl, people either think "damn, should have come by this block sooner" or "f***in* kid took all the candy".
