OP, definitely keep asking your 4 yo. I have 5 yo twins and since they were 2, they have always had a fascination with putting things inside of other things. They cut up paper and put it in envelopes. They collect boxes from all around the house and put things in them. Things just disappear. Fortunately, we have trained them to try and keep track of things which works about 40% of the time. We ask if they've seen X and often one of t hem will say "Oh yes" and take you to the most unlikely places to find that a spoon is on the dining room window sill, the mail is in the candyland game box in the playroom, the item you just bought from the store is in the seat of the Thomas ride on toy sitting in the front hall.

Kids learn by doing and preschoolers experiment with anything and everything. It is quite possible that your four year old had some wonderful idea of how to be helpful and put Mommy's box somewhere, then completely forgot where she put it when you asked her. But I've found that if you periodically keep asking about something that is still missing that you often get different answers and after asking several times, may actually get the answer of where something is.

Think before you give anyone a key to your house. He started coming in my house after my DH left for work. DH didn't believe me at first, until we both went out and came home and all the kitchen cabinet doors were open. DH confronted him and he denied. The next day he came in while I was showering and left the front door open. DH contacted police and confronted him then he started putting dead animals in the pool. Cameras went up and no more problems for me. It helps that several neighbors have had experiences with him.

Ew. Sorry to hear. We had this once. Awful. He constantly complained about other neighbors, to deflect attention away from himself; but he was the actual problem (in more ways than one). Awful.

How did he get keys to everyone's house?

For all OP knows, her 4 year old might have buried her "treasure chest" in the back yard.

OP, it's been 2 days since you posted. What are the chances you will post an update?

I don't think you have any evidence OP. I once thought a babysitter took my tv remote and then it showed up. Make sure to check all over. And, I would suspect your cousin.

My six year old just put all my check books in different envelopes and hid them all over the house. I'm glad I didn't blame anyone for all my missing check books!

Huh? What does he do for a living?

Any chance he has OP's keys?!

He's not tech savvy and we are. At least he's no longer killing small wild animals and throwing them in my pool.
