what is most troubling for me is that officers continually respond to these anonymous callers with hyper agrees ion and failure to assess the situation. this is similar to what happened to John Crawford in the Walmart. some caller gives erroneous information to a dispatcher, the police respond with hyper aggression, and someone loses their life. what happened to assessing the situation? in the case of Kinsey, the police responded to false information and shot an innocent man, who could not have been more submissive. The police had more than a split second to assess. they chose not to. Did they even bother to look in the man's hand to see what he was holding? Did they listen to Kinsey if and when he told them that it's a toy truck, or did they tell him to "shut the fuck up and put your hands in the air!". Moreover, the fact that he was aiming for the intellectually disabled man clearly holding a toy is ridiculous. there have been several cases of police killing people who are intellectually disabled. To date, none have been held responsible for their actions. Where does Autism Speaks stand on the killing of people with autism at the hands of police? The proposed policy changes that BLM advocates for help all citizens, not just Black males. It just so happens that Black males are more frequently killed at the hands of law enforcement than Black women. BLM also spoke out about Sandra Bland as well. nevertheless, there is clearly something wrong with the quality of poloce candidates when a man who is clearly compliant and submissive gets shot anyway.

You forgot to add "bleeding, and handcuffed him."

DH is a former judge and was just telling me a little while earlier that the story made no sense--not that you need to be a judge to figure that out.
That said, since the Trayvon Martin case I have lost all faith in the ability of the judicial system in this country to render much justice.

Anyone know if Charles Kinsey has sufficient enough medical insurance to make it through until he hopefully extracts a giganormous settlement from the city of Miami in a civil suit? Or whether a site has been set up to help with his medical bills? (I'm a social media ignoramus).

I can - John Geer. Jeremy Mardis (6 years old) was killed by two black officers who have been indicted in Louisiana. Dylan Noble in Fresno. The kid in South Carolina who was with his girlfriend getting ice cream or something.

Here is the thing - these protests don't materialize out of thin air. People organize them. Where are the All Live Matter folks then?

I am black and I am horrified when ANYONE is shot by a police office. Part of the problem is that people are ALWAYS looking for an excuse for someone to be killed in the street when this happens. There are very, VERY few situations where this is truly justified. Being autistic with a truck in your hand isn't one of them. He was literally just sitting there. I hope the department gets sued into oblivion. Apparently the police tased one of the resident previously, and the owner of the group home offered to do a training session for the police. They, of course, did not take him up on the offer.

And this situation with this woman in Austin. She was going 50 in a 35 and ended up being slammed to the ground. For what? What she dangerous to anyone? Did she have a record? Were there warrants out for her arrest that the cop could see after running her plates? Or was it just that he didn't like her "attitude"? This HAS to stop. It seems like police officers are escalating situations instead of de-escalating. If you talk to old school police officers, they will tell you that they have never even drawn their guns, let alone shot anyone. Now that seems to be the first option. I guess if all you have is a hammer, though, all your problems are a nail.

And yes, they DO do this to white people. Not at the same rate, but it still happens. Progress won't be made until people of all races are pissed about it happening AT ALL.

Haha, so very trueDH worked in the inner city during the crack wars. He never drew his weapon, let alone shoot anyone. He did have quite a few fist battles.

But but but he had to shoot the caretaker to protect the caretaker from the "gun" the autistic man was carrying even though the caretaker told the officer multiple times it was a toy truck not a gun.

I mean, c'mon guys, isn't the caretaker safer being shot by a cop than shot by a toy truck? I've heard tonka truck shootings are really on the rise in Florida, the new crime wave of the summer. It's this year's bath salts.

US police seem very pumped up and trigger happy in my interactions with them. In my country (uk) police are civil and friendly. Moreover they are trained to de escalate situations, whereas American cops always want to escalate. I think better training and being civil would go a long way.
