• Enjoying the freedom of going wherever we wanted w/out the fear of being kidnapped or murdered by some random sex offender.
• Having the joy of calling our local radio station to request our favorite song, then excitedly waiting by the radio until it came on!
• Not being stressed out over being "unreachable" for hours.
There were actual benefits then of not having a cell phone.
• The music...!!...We had the very best music during the 80's.
No one can EVER doubt that!

Not having to drink the Disney princess Kool Aid. When I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, no one ever called me or any other little girl a "princess." We wore Toughskins and played on our bikes or skateboards outside with the boys. In many ways it was much more equitable.

I've told my kids so much about 70s and 80s and now try oldest is obsessed. It truly was a magical yet f@cked up time in that almost everyone in our neighborhood got divorced and we kids went wild. Fun good times. But don't want my kids to get crazy like we did (drinking, pot, driving, boys, etc).

Lol, me too. And that game where you had categories (city, type of house, type of car, number of children) and picked answers for each, then thought of a number, like six, and you crossed out every sixth answer. At the end you had your future!
