Wisconsin and Michigan are great places if you want a "lake" vacation vs an "ocean" vacation in the summer.

One more vote for St Louis and the City museum. Try the science museum and Grants Farm too.

Columbus, OH. Small-town feel with really good food.

Also, for whoever said they liked Mellow Mushroom pizza, they just opened a franchise in Rockville Town Square!

The endangered wolf center is located at a Washington University research facility, just outside of St. Louis. It's a cool daytime tour and they have nighttime bonfires, storytelling, and "howls' at different times of the year.

Kansas City - the Plaza, 18th and Vine, etc. Extremely nice people there too, very welcoming and not standoffish.

Block Island, Rhode Island. We have been back 3 times and each time it gets better and we have new discoveries. I feel like my heart beats with the island. We get tandem bikes and ride all over the island, get ice cream, crash on beaches. My favorite was a family nap under a tree and we carved out names into the tree. One day, we will own a piece of that island.

My parents went to Pitt. I !might visit with my Dad this summer. He can show us around. I want to stop at Ohiopyle. I loved St. Louis. We stopped there as a kid but I did not want to go. I loved it there. Also, Ouachita, Arkansas. Rural but solo relaxing and intriguing.

Where's the love for Boston? Great dining, freedom trail, quaint streets, Beacon Hill, the commons and Duck Tours, walkable city, the Charles river, best symphony hall in the US Next to Carnegie Hall in New York, probably fourth best in the world, Boston pops on the Fourth of July, Irish Taverns, beer, and the Sox.

The Yogi Bear Jellystone campsite in Luray. YEP, I know what people think about that place but it must've been with the people we were with, not the place. They were so relax about things. And most importantly the kids had a great time.
