I knew IB families who never got in off the wait list last year and had lottery #s in the 30s even with the preference.
Is PP English or Spanish dominant? There are two waitlists at Bancroft now like Oyster, right?
We also added Bancroft PK3 post-lottery. English dominant. WL #8. Anyone think there's a good chance of getting a spot?
Are you still at 7/8? We added it post lottery, I think after I saw someone say that got 7, and we are listed even lower. I THiNK I clicked English, but it doesn't show like the others do. Kid is bilingual, so it probably doesn't matter, but still would like to know.

Well we're #7 post lottery. I was baffled, myself.

Van Ness - #15
Ludlow-Taylor - #22
Brent - #36
SWS - #10
JO Wilson - #8
Two Rivers Young - matched
We have friends at Two Rivers Young. They are very happy there.
Wow - I am surprised you got wait listed at JO.
Why the surprise? JO is a strong school. We got waitlisted there in the mid-30s for PK3 last year and didn't budge more than 1 or 2 spots. It's in demand.
PP here. I think JO is a really strong school. Sorry my post wasn't clear. To clarify, I am surprised that that the poster got waitlisted at JO but matched at Two Rivers Young. I would have expected TR Young to have filled before JO given it's a HRCS. I stand corrected!
Maybe a whole lot of people with proximity preference to JO Wilson are ahead of OP? Because she must have had a great lottery number to be #10 on the SWS wait list and get into TR.

That is a big difference, but I think the logic still stands. I know a number of people who got in to Brent with no sibling preference, which is very different from the last few years. The point is that schools change and your chances change from year to year. A school that was a long shot can become a school where you have a shot very quickly, just as a school where you think you have a good shot (like LT or JOW) can become an impossibility very quickly. Unless you have all low probability schools among your 12, it can't hurt to add a school where things might change.
You're a super idiot.
Be kind, everyone. It's a complex system, and not everyone has the time or inclination to immerse themselves in it. And you go a little off your rocker when you do. I speak from experience.
That being said, yes, getting into Brent PK3 this year as an OOB kid was never going to happen. But this is a smaller cohort than last year, so apply again for K. They may end up taking a number of OOB kids to fill the classes.
