Or the fact that they are deliberately stealing money away from people donating and are completely unaware? Want to have Boosteron. Announce they take 50% of the proceeds. Then see how much they make.
If not, it has to go up higher (if your principal is for it) and get it stopped.

well, given that boosterthon takes instruction time away from kids for something like a whole week, yes, they should look at it.

New poster here. Boosterthon at kid's school two years ago, and it sucked. Teachers, parents, and kids didn't like it for various and numerous reasons.
Kid at new school now, and they had Boosterthon for the first time this year. Not as bad because a number of kids had done it prior and simply opted out. Some even created an "anti-Boosterthon" group.
Spouse was POed about Boosterthon in school and personally emailed the entire MCPS Board of Education. Lo and behold, actually got a formal written response. So they are aware. Though remains to be seen if Boosterthon gets banned from MCPS as I hear it did in Fairfax.
So go ahead and email all the MCPS BoE members and see what happens. Just do it respectfully.

NP. our school is starting Boosterthon next week. I am organizing a protest in the front of the building on the first day with a dozen other parents. Our voices will be heard.

You are totally unhinged. Do you really think the BOE should be weighing in on individual school fundraisers like this? These are decisions that should be made at the individual school level. If you don't like them, become a PTA officer, volunteer to run an alternative fundraiser at your school.

NP. I told my Dc that we were not going to participate this year. DC got upset because DC thought they *had* to participate, plus DC wouldn't get all the little (crap) prizes. This is how Boosterthon makes the kids feel. It's not just that PP's kid.
I am not materialistic, and I didn't freak out about boosterthon. I told DC in a very calm manner. After discussing it more, DC agreed, but I had to tell DC that I would get DC a little prize separately. And yes, I have donated to the school. Still, almost every other day during boosterthon pep week, DC would come home asking about doing boosterthon. They are relentless, and it was annoying as hell.
