Radon is not an instant poison. The risk comes from exposure over time. The risk to a student from spending 5 hours a day in a classroom for 180 days for one year is not much. The risk to a teacher is higher, since the teacher could be in the same classroom for several years. This is not to minimize the dangers of radon. It's to say that it's not grounds for panic, if you are a parent of a student.

Not an instant poison? Are you kidding, so 5 hours a day of a long acting slower poisen is OK , just a little bit?
maybe like lead- you know a little at a time.
Who are you to say it is "not much"
go experiment on your own child I guess and give them "just a little" but dont make us put our children in "just a little" poisen
Who is the EPA to say it is "not much"?

Where do you think MCPS administrators send their kids? Not MCPS. Gonzaga, Holy Cross, Good Counsel
I wonder what the source of your information is? I have children in two schools in MCPS. The principal of onej school sends his children to MCPS. The principal of the other school sends her children to Frederick County Public Schools (because she lives in Frederick County).

And then there's your workplace, your child's private school, your gym, your parents' house... All I'm saying is, if you insist on worrying yourself to pieces over this you really need to be consistent and worry about radon everywhere, because it's a naturally occurring gas and it's not just something that's in "bad" or "old" places like lead paint or asbestos. It's everywhere.
