I commented on the PoP post about his decision to move, simply suggesting that if I were in his position I'd go a step further and move either to North Arlington or Bethesda because he's essentially moving to the suburbs for schools and the schools in North Arlington and Bethesda are better, especially after elementary schools. Others may disagree, but this is hardly a rude or acerbic observation.

Now I understand why every comment on his post about moving was so supportive . . . really pathetic, if you ask me. He lost this reader.

This was my first thought as well and I don't blame him one bit if it's the real reason.

seriously, stfu. First of all, you're white yourself. Thus, it's weird to keep using the played-out pejorative with the word "caucasian" in it.
And, why don't you understand yet that a very sizable cohort in non-rowhouse-land DC was once a bwave, chest-thumping kid like yourself -- when they first moved to DC themselves as unmarried 20-somethings?
Welcome to mature adulthood, dad PoP

Every first child has their best chance for charter admission at PK3. Then, if the child didn't get in anywhere, or anywhere acceptable, pay for day care another year and try it again. There's no guarantee for PK4 even at a WOTP school. seems like such an uninformed decision.
You're assuming he wanted a charter.
No-one is assuming, that was obvious. He didn't get the highly-desired charter, so he sold his house to get the next best thing: DCPS in Upper NW.
Why do we have to pretend there isn't an elephant in the room?

Buying 12 years ago, he probably made a killing from selling his home. Petworth prices are insane --not sure why people are buying when school aren't great.

Not a brave toughguy forum like this, where you can learn about why every road in Upper NW should be widened for the benefit of Marylanders, why Trinidad is a place no one cared about their kids would live, and why real estate in Pimmit Hills is so hot. Tough guys read about Pimmit Hills and the best SUVs to buy, milquetoasts read about biking and the best deals on houses in, well, Trinidad.
