this is proving to be a pretty epic summer for sharks in NC and VA/MD coastal waters. I'd definitely stay out of the ocean if I were you, OP.

If a shark bites me on my ankles I will definitely live. It's being out in deep water where they can be at your body and/or drag you under that is dangerous.


they can drag you out even if you are in ankle deep water...especially if you are a kid. besides, you may live but no one wants to get bitten by a shark/possibly lose appendages/skin in the first place

I read they are coming to shore because of the explosion of sea turtles (aka shark food).

Ocean City Maryland didn't have an attack, but an 800 pound hammerhead was spotted very close to shore0suspected to be injured.

It's more likely that their nature food source is fished out. The Commercial fishing trawlers have really cleaned the OBX out, plus people shark fish from the beach there.
