Does he not understand the impact redistricting has on City real estate through delay in redistricting decisions?
It's not a good decision to put off redisctricting once again. Just get it done so facts can be known to sellers and buyers. You don't need a committee anyway in reality. This is an ACPS Board decision based on numbers. Get real.

This came out of the committee last night and will be voted on by the board at the next meeting. Main reason for pushing back is that the Superintendent just released a new CIP that adds a new elementary school in the west end for the 2017-2018 school year (using leased commercial space.) The redistricting needs to take into account the new elementary. The biggest capacity issues are in the west end, and no amount of redistricting is really going to solve the problem without the addition of more capacity.
I think it's crazy that the Superintendent didn't provide that information prior to the committee starting work. I mean if he knew he was increasing capacity in the West End, why wouldn't he just say that up front? What other surprises will come up during the process?

On Monday, Aug. 24, Alexandria City Public Schools selected an independent third party to assist ACPS in the work of redistricting elementary schools across the city.
J.R. Reingold & Associates Inc., a communications and community engagement consulting firm based in Alexandria, has promised a comprehensive and collaborative approach that will engage the community throughout the process...

But now I can't tell if that portion of Russell Rd is still zoned for George Mason or if it is MVCS. We are on the same side as Emmanuel church/ preschool if that helps. I have a son entering Kindergarten in 2016 so I'd appreciate any help.
