I feel appreciated. He doesn't shower me with compliments but he does express that he's glad I can be a SAHM. In the early years, I felt guilty because I didn't want him to be stressed as the only income. I have offered many times to go back to work and he always tells me there's no need unless it would make me happy. I feel very fortunate as many of my SAHM friends were pressured to return to work before they were ready or felt that their husbands weren't supportive.

It's unkind to say that the dad who is working 90 hrs/week to support the family is an uninvolved dad. Also, you don't know anything about him. How could you know? And it's also awful to say his wife only views him as a paycheck. What a nasty conclusion to reach based only on a few words on a page. It's like the PP who insisted the afterschool time with a SAHM is THE way of doing things. You can't jump to conclusions; families are just too different.

Most people really do try their best for their families. People can do different things and do it well and what works for one family wouldn't work for other people. Of course a dad who works 90 hrs/week can be an awesome dad! Why are you people so rigid in your world views? Haven't you met anybody who isn't like you before?
