I would assume that most of the lice flock to girls with long hair. What is the ratio of your boy/girl clients?

I am so terrified of lice. I literally have an unhealthy fear of them. I use a lice comb with conditioner on my kids hair once a week.
We also don't:
Allow sleepovers
Allow any costume/hat sharing
Let them play in restaurant play areas

We had a letter come home 3x this year from preschool that someone had lice. Luckily it's a private preschool and the kids were sent home and not allowed to return without a letter saying they were lice free.

I also keep my boys' hair very short. And even though I do the comb once a week I visually check their heads every morning. And I also spray their hair with something with fragrance (leave in conditioner or tangle stuff).

I have a little OCD yes. But I also work a job where I work with kids and have seen lice first hand. And I think it's absolutely disgusting.

I used to feel this way too. Now I just preemptively lice comb my child in the bath once a week. She hasn't had lice since I started doing this.

It really doesn't have to be that bad if you are proactive about it. Every family should do this along with all your other hygiene routines. daily (brush teeth) weekly (change sheets, lice comb) monthly (whatever).

The schools don't care. No lice-infested child left behind. Since they say lice don't carry disease they don't care that it destroys households for a few weeks at a time. I really think I'll sue the school system for damages if one of my kids get it since they have sent the same letter home every week since school started. The school nurse should be allowed to shave the damn kid who is never treated head. They won't send kids home for lice and they let them in with lice so the families that are dirty and don't give a sh@t never treat it.

Ugh. And just pouring some 'shampoo' on your kid's head doesn't get rid of lice, we did that plus combing, combing, combing, for two weeks, daily at first, then once every two days. I honestly don't think I can handle another lice outbreak without getting a nervous breakdown.. it was THAT bad.

This year they don't even send home for live bugs.

It's disgusting. We get a notice almost weekly that some kid in one of my kids' classes has lice.

Zero done to prevent the spread and serious inconvenience to other households.

My Aunts school gave every kid a large clear zip up bag...kids store coats, hats, backpacks in them. They got the lice to zero.

No, lice don't seem to be affected by hair dye. I did see a kid who died his hair green for St. Patty's day - the lice were green. Otherwise unharmed.
