Agreed. (Np here.). However, as someone relatively new to DC, I had no idea the day after Easter was sometimes a violent day at the zoo. The news didn't report it. I learned about the Calvert bridge shooting on DCUM. A random comment about AA family day made me do a lot of googling. It took a lot of time to figure out what AA Family Day was, it's history (both good and bad), and determine that my family and I should skip the zoo yesterday. We were actually planning to go but thankfully I did some research. But I never would have know it was an unsafe day if I only watched the local news.
Thanks for sharing that perspective as someone new to DC. Do you think you'll go next year? What would you say to friends or relatives who might be in town?
No way. I will avoid the zoo for all of Spring Break and Easter. I'm not going to risk my life and the lives of my family to be politically correct. I will tell all friends, relatives, and tourists to stay far away. The community needs to end this crap now. Right now, tourists all over the US are telling their families and communities how violent DC is and how normal people can't even visit the zoo on a Spring day. We who live here know that's not accurate, but this is the reputation DC will get.

Let's not forget who pays for and operates the zoo. The federal government and the Smithsonian.. It is the National Zoo, where locals and tourists should feel welcome. It's not some private hunting ground for a few screwed up gangbangers.

Asshole. Don't give it if you can't take it. Basic understanding of stats? You need reading comprehension 099, jerk.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:This thread is so hypocritical. No way was there this much righteous indignation when schools are shot up and students killed by assassins. It's always the killers didn't get the help they needed or it's a case of abuse at home or people kill not guns or a myriad of other excuses. Not once did I read that these killers were an indictment if an ENTIRE race of people. Unlike here where posters say why aren't black people outraged and speak out?
Practice what you preach. The families of murdered children would appreciate it.
You don't have a basic understanding of statistics. Are you saying you would be as likely to allow your kid to attend a majority white school as you would allow them to go to Easter Monday at the zoo? But thanks for invoking murdered children in your little p.c. crusade, jerk.

When the Kansas Shooting at Jewish Community Center and Retirement Center thread turned into a war between Palestinian and Jewish supporters the thread was locked after three pages; and mostly because Jeff got into it with a poster. There was a comment in the political forum about Muriel Bowser's sexuality and Jeff threatened to shut it down.
I don't think there is any kind of agenda, but just count the number of unlocked threads that have turned into an anonymous assault on Black people. The assumption is that they start because some uninformed white person asks an innocent question. The threads instantly turn into Black vs. white and they continue ad nauseam until someone starts a S/O thread about a related, subtly racist, topic.
Don't worry Jeff... I'm not interested in debating this point and I will take your advice and stop commenting and visiting DCUM as there is something pretty awful about Black people every. single. day.
You realize that this thread is a direct response to my attempt to stop anti-black posts, correct?
Oh good. Looking forward to your putting an end to the anti-Catholic posts as well.
