I like that you used a fictional show to make a point. But even then, the characters on the show weren't desperate either. The main character turned down a great guy for marriage when she was over 35, left a wealthy/famous painter in Paris when he didn't treat her right. Samantha left her young, hot actor BF in the end because she's not the relationship type. Miranda dumped a hot NY knicks physician for her ex-bartender BF. Charlotte left her marriage to a hot, wealthy doctor because of their sex life and her desire to have kids.

What's even more bizarre to me is there are men complaining on DCUM no less about women. Are we to believe single men posting on DCUM have tons of options on Saturday nights? Come on. Why does it bother you so much that some of us have options and don't have to settle? Desirable men don't have to wonder about this because they have their lot to choose from.


Why would you need to "settle"?? Thirty-something women who wrote their dissertations on Sex in the City episodes are highly desirable. See you Saturday night; I'll look for the woman with crows feet sitting alone at the bar nursing her third Cosmo of the evening.

This is as true as the thinking that most women are total whores with the assholes they meet in the 20s and 30s and then transform into nuns once they marry the nice guy and realize these nice guys won't treat them like shit.

Most = a lot of the population. Sure, there are idiots out there, but I don't think most men are having sex with young, young hookers. Most likely, most are imaging sex with young, young females via porn and ogling throughout daily life.

I am 30. My ex is 55. He looks like 45. Wealthy. We have a son now. The relationship did not work out and one of the reasons is the age difference of course. I am still deeply in love and think it is a tragedy we are not a family anymore.

So you seem to despise women your age for doing precisely what you did. Put yourself and your desires (a new career) ahead of a relationship. You're mid-30s and you're "open" to a relationship now? It really amazes me that I come across men 5-10 years younger than men such as yourself who seem to know what they want and close the deal and minus the vitriol towards women. I don't know if you were passed over for the hot guy when you were younger or cheated on in the past, but something about your tone seems hostile/bitter. I mean no snark and hope that it's a misinterpretation.

30yo woman. Prefer to date 27-34, someone I could've attended HS with. I date older sometimes, but I prefer guys who wanted to settle down sooner in life. Nice spin. Single women 35 plus are still single because of the men? Um, no. Theyre single generally because they fucked up when they were most attractive. In college, they didnt get locked down. In grad school, they didnt get locked down. Theres a reason for that. Maybe they wanted to be sluts for badboys, maybe they were focused on "career", maybe theyre just not that attractive. But its probably that they werent "ready" to commit when lots of guys were interested.

In my case, i changed careers (for the better) at about 30. So i wasnt really looking for settling down until recently. Thats not all i'm looking for, but certainly open to it. And i am probably going to be more open to it than most guys in their late 20s. Plus i went to a combined junior/senior hs.

Never know, my husband's mom was 40 and dad was 55 when they had him and he's perfectly healthy. Some loose screws are questionable

I am 28 and my husband is 42. We met when I was 23 and he was 38. We are very much in love and no he is not rich. His parents were also, coincidentally, 15 years apart and were happily married until his father passed away in his 90s. So I don't see anything wrong with age gaps unless they are really excessive - and even then - that is relative (some may think ours is excessive).

Nah, the risk for older dads with autism is lower than the risk for older women and downs. Many women dont realize how quickly eggs deteriorate after 30.
