There are so many problems in this country and so many people suffering (why I provided examples of other charities that actually would help a large and vulnerable population), and you prefer to take up collections to carry out your eye for an eye justice? As I said, fine - you likely will get people to donate. But that just shows me that our priorities as a nation are completely fucked up.

As for what I have done (I assume you are asking what I have done to help vulnerable children) - write to congress to ask them not to be short sighted, donate to charity, volunteer. What about you?

If he was / is psychotic and delusional, I cant imagine how one would come to grips with what they had done once medicated and brought back to reality. How do you cope with that?

And I agree that all most who commit heinous crimes have mental health problems but many mental health problems do not interfere with competency. Thinking may be distorted, emotional and behavioral regulation may be lacking but those people are still aware of reality and aware of the wrong of their actions. Psychosis is completely different.

Denial is a coping mechanism.

well there are different kinds of "crazy" that people are mixing here.

For most people "crazy" are psychiatric diagnoses of schizophrenia and psychosis, but of course, as PPs pointed out, noone that kills scores of people is normal either. The people that do such things and are n the end not deemed insane still have personality disorders, often severe, antisocial, sociopaths etc. No conscience, no remorse is not normal.
But does the person know reality? That is the question.
