9 years ago "a friend" Andy bought me a lap dance (no hickie though) & later I did blackout from 1 too many.
I didn't cheat but I didn't call home either which had my girlfriend going crazy. She had no idea where I was or if I was ok. Finally she got in touch with Andy, who told her I blacked out and was asleep on the sofa of some random chick he met.
I'm guessing since you called the hospitals you've known him to blackout before? But if he's never shown signs of cheating I wouldn't push the issue. If he wants to stop drinking encourage him. ( Don't push AA unless he gets another bad blackout)
The girlfriend in this story is now my wife of 8 years, I haven't talked to Andy in 7 years (wife very happy about that) and I haven't had been drinking for 6 years.
Honestly though, get rid of the friend. After that night I really saw how you have to choose your friends carefully.
Ps
If you want to judge me fine, but I would say if giving the benefit of the doubt, saves more relationships then jumping to conclusions would. If you want him to get tested and he'll go for it; do that too if it will bring you two close again.

If you take a walk in central parkyou will be robbed and rapped too??
