Additionally, I wear Tory Burch flats because they are comfortable. Yes, I did go to private school growing up, private college, and am now in a private law school in DC. One of the things I learned in private school was to be classy, and not act in a hateful manner to others. You might not like someone or something, but you shouldn't call someone else out on a triviality like a jacket!!! It's so funny: apparently y'all think people who dress like I do are snobby or self-righteous or something, but we don't sit around and talk about what you want to wear. (And it's usually hideous, in case you were wondering.) Something to consider: I saved my extra money from a job I had in college forever and bought a Louis Vuitton six years ago. I will never have to buy another purse. Think about that compared to how many $30 purses you "free spirits" will buy over the years. I'll be giving mine to my daughter some day, if I have one, and I hope she treasures it. How's that for economics? Oh, she will be attending private school. It is apparently characteristic of "sheeple" to be kind and nonjudgmental, unlike the women on here, who appear to be teaching their children that it is better to be mean and hateful than to be "one of the crowd."

It makes me laugh, I image most of the posters here wearing white turtlenecks under thick gaudy wool sweaters with black loafers and black pleated Chico's pants. So, with that in mind, I ignore all discussions of fashion on this board.
LOL, I imagine most posters in sweats and Birks.

There is a four page DCUM thread to debate what is simply the fact that different brands and styles of clothing tend to identify people in different socio or economic groups. Are you people idiots or what? We all buy products and brands that are appropriate to our socio economic group, and if you think you don't, you are crazy. My personal favorite are the women who bitch about Lululemon and other more costly brands, and then boast how practical they are wearing Target, REI, and the like. Well I have news for them. They buy Target and REI to boast about it because it conveys something about themselves. They WANT to be viewed a certain wait (usually more evolved and less influenced by brands). You fools, that is the image that Target and REI sell. Everyone is buying into some brand and the image it coveys.
correction
Funny thing is though all the brands used to convey status and wealth in NW DC also was used in my native working class NY neighborhood to convey that you had style etc. North Face? Check Burberry? Check!!! I was wearing quilted jacket's back in the early 90's. Never once thought it made me look preppy. But me wearing those things won't convey the message that I am of a certain class etc unless the person receiving the message chooses to do so. But hey at least i get double wear out of my North Face (look like I maybe/might fit in at preschool pickup and definetly look like I fit in in NY).
