Everyone has their reasons so it's not as simple as just listing a few things. I know at least 15 AA men married to non-AA women (not all white) They all have their reasons and their marriages and families are great. I'm talking about marriage so "easiness" was not the reason. In my opinion.

OP, what part of the DC region do you live in? Did race relations, or at least wanting to live in a community with other AA families, play any part in where you chose to live? Any parts of the region you would especially recommend or not recommend to AA families with young children who are relocating to the area?

AA woman here. I'm married, but had no problem attracting men. With that said, I've only dated black men (and one who was black/Puerto Rican). My single AA friends have got it tough. It's been difficult for them to date IR. I sometimes go to happy hours with my coworkers and the white guys (the coworkers) often go on about how pretty I am (in a very friendly, non-pervy, way). I'm a very curvy, bootylicious early 30's black woman. White guys seeing me, without the benefit of knowing me, would probably assume I'm not interested.

AA woman here - never smoked weed or did any drugs before. Have relatives in jail. My husband encounters the people crossing the street or not speaking to him. He is very friendly, so don't be scared. We live in a very diverse-ish meighborhood though the Black population is less than Asian, Hispanic/Latino, and Arab. I don't use the N word, but I do say "assed" but not "axed" and "what's up?". I don't say "girlfriend" but I do say "this chick". I do watch the Real Housewives of Atlanta. Random facts.
