OP, you sound reasonable. In your shoes, I'd say to your husband that you are just VERY uncomfortable with the whole thing. While the connections would be good, it's not like enormous wealth is going to convey once your husband joins the masons. What it does mean is that the mere chance of connections and possible wealth are being pursued at the expense of the partner (wife in this case)'s comfort level. I would not ever join something that required secrecy from my spouse, unless the reason for that secrecy was a matter of public safety and security, etc. (And even then, I think there would be better candidates for the job, ha ha). I happen to believe that secrets within a marriage, however innocuous, can become poisonous. Sure, many masons have strong marriages, but I would think that if you're against and he joins anyway, this would create a huge, maybe unnecessary strain on the marriage. There are enough unavoidable strains out there already that makes turning this down a no-brainer for me. And I'm putting msyelf into your husband's shoes, not yours. Well, good luck!

For the record, every "secret" Masonic book used in lodges and temples is in The Library of Congress. This is a fact. You are free to go there and read up on anything you wish. While members are sworn to uphold the Masonic Oaths, what goes on in the temples is all out there, so to speak.

As for whoever put the very long quote from the book about the Masonic person and the 33rd rite, I guess you've never been to an old Church in Europe. Skulls? Really? Have you been to Paris? I was talking about masons in SA.

The father gave the youth group a study about it so I learned abt it from the source.
