Anonymous wrote:I have a Lucy and am honestly shocked to see her name on this list! I've never met another Lucy in my entire life, let alone a child my daughter's age. I *thought* we were being orginal. Can someone please let me know where all the Lucy's are? FWIW, We live in VA and she attends school in NW DC.

I'm surprised I haven't seen Ben or Benjamin. My son is usually one of several - it started in daycare and continues in ES.

I also check the register at the pediatrician's office and see that apparently lots of Indian people around here are naming their baby Akash, which makes me breathe a sigh of relief that we had a girl, since I had chosen that name for a son.
I have an Evelyn and noticed that it's becoming really popular. I actually had another mom get mad at me because I had the audacity to give my child the same name. It didn't matter that my Evelyn was 2 or 3 years older than hers.

What's amazing to me is how so many of these sound alike, like Ava/Eva and Ella/Stella/Isabella or Addison/Madison.

Great list! I'll add from my mother's circle: Joanne, Donna, Joyce, Mary Lou, Martha, Miriam.
Don't forget Nancy!
Mom and mom's friends: Carol, Barbara Suzanne, Terry (Theresa), Anne, Juanita, Janet, Betsy, Julie, Elaine, Deborah, Penny (Penelope), Maura, Mona, Mary
I think Anne and Mary are names that will always be considered classic, but I most of these still sound very dated to me, especially Carol, Barbara, Suzanne, Janet and Deborah.
