Gen X does not now GAF (did we ever?), and Gen Z tends to be very sensible and non judgmental about shoes — they will mot look askance at a granny sandal if it is functional and works for you. I have told my daughters that if their generation’s contribution to feminism is to normalize comfortable footwear for women, that will be a job well done.

I’d put them in the top half of shoes posted on this thread. But there are better black strappy sandals. The soles don’t match the top.
These are better:

The top ones don’t have any back strap—they are basically flip flops and terrible for your ankles and arches.
I feel like these threads are divided in two — the people who have plantar fasciitis or similar foot issues and those that don’t. For those of us in the former group, none of these sandals that you say are not ugly would work. And those of you in the latter category, if you want 5 miles a day in those sandals without arch support, you probably will end up with PF or something similar eventually.
I have vionics that don’t seem available anymore but are similar to this — I can only wear sandals that have adjustable straps, really.

For me, Birkenstock Gizeh Flowers works for every situation except a serious hike or formal dinner.

These are my “best” comfy sandals that aren’t TOO ugly that I wear for European vacations / cobblestone streets. Agree that a white sneaker or simple flat sandal are best, but it’s been too hot for sneakers, and too much walking (even to dinner) for a flat sandal so this is where I’ve landed. Curious if everyone thinks they are terrible?!

IMO, this is one of the most reasonable suggestions I have seen for sandals on DCUM so far.

I'm not the OP, but I am in fact 60. Sorry if that offends you.

I have sensitive skin and sandal straps often cut the skin behind my ankle. But I do own pretty sandals for going out to dinner.
