You didn’t read properly. The person you’re quoting suggests eliminating future workdays (the calendar has several) because plenty of paid time has been provided to teachers in the form of snow days.

While they won’t do that for 25-26 its a great proposal for future years.

They need to start using the paid contract hours represented by snow days and early release as telework TW days. Then parents and teachers will have aligned incentives about snow days, it won’t be a paid day off for teachers while parents scramble, and FCPS will have to think harder before making foolish calls. Had that been policy this year they could eliminate the rest of the early release ES days.

You’re flat out wrong. Teachers work on teacher workdays. And no they will not be eliminated simply because you are going to work.

For everyone claiming public education isn't teaching their kids everything: Guess what, it's meant to be a partnership with families. Partners means both sides do something. Since the beginning of public schools in early 1800s, parents have been expected to read to kids, provide books at home, help kids with homework...are you doing all that? Or expecting public school teachers to do it all?

Good call, FCPS. Roads may be slippery in the morning, no need to risk student safety. This will be the last delay of the year, everyone can plan accordingly.

Great. My kindergartner and 3rd grader love starting school at 11:20. Oh wait but first they must have lunch, and then recess. Oh wait snack too. Hooray for a 3hr school day or is it another early release day too, or some random holiday because everyone has to feel included. Oh and the teachers need more time to plan because they teach the same thing every year. 🙄

Agree. I volunteered during my Ks Spanish class and over half the class time was you tube videos. At least 4.
