DD has a friend whose mom is apparently in the know, and has said they're closed tomorrow.

Arlington just closed, so it should be any minute now.

As a member of our schools' attendance team, I very much hope they are closed. Students aren't going to come if they are open and then we are going to have to call and harass their parents! Of course, my kids will attend since I will have to go to work.

I think you’re right. They’re going to make a Herculean effort and put everyone in a bind just for a 5 hour day.

You mean 3 hour school day. There’s already an early release scheduled for tomorrow. If they do a 2 hour delay, that’d be 4 hours off total.

They’ll cancel the early release. Reid does this kind of thing.

When has she ever done anything close to it? She might make offhand comments about “looking into things” but she has zero follow through.

I don't think FCPS will change from early release to late start. That's way too confusing on short notice. They might do that for something way in advance, but not less than 24 hours in advance. It's just not possible logistically or logically. I think they'll cancel, anticipating if nothing else that most people - both students and teachers - won't come in for half a day.

I'm a teacher, and I'll use leave instead of going in tomorrow. For one, my hilly driveway still has about 10 feet of ice that the snow plow conveniently left in front of it. For another, I work in a trailer. Basically outside. I spend most of my day walking around outside between trailers and the building. I'm just not willing to do that in ten degrees.

It's certainly not worth changing the schedule when there are still some very icy and unsafe bus routes. Reid wants the kids in school but she really wants all students alive and well, also.

Do we really think they’d change the whole schedule to eliminate the 2 hour early release tomorrow so they could have a 2 hour morning delay?

They could, but not tomorrow. They will close.

School will most likely be closed. Some districts have started calling it.
