The experience for my son at GZ was transformative. It truly shaped him and he became a Kairos leader. He still holds it as his most impactful experience at GZ. His younger brother at another school had a great experience and has signed up to lead Campus Retreats as a result, but it did not transform him like it did my older son. My older son has clung closer to his Catholic faith, and I attribute that to GZ.
My son also felt his Kairos event was transformative. He was literally beaming that night at dinner; we didn't learn a lot about the conversations held but was able to get the gist. For my son, the best experiences at Gonzaga were: his math track (skipped algebra 2 and took linear and multivariable senior yr), Purple Rugby and the Kairos event. In the 4 years he spent on Eye street, he never had a complaint. Even the commute, and coming from VA could be brutal, he never minded.
Same with kids from other schools
Great! Glad to hear it.
Which other local high schools do Kairos retreats?
A ton of Catholic High Schools do Kairos — I participated 30 years ago. It is a common experience amongst Catholic high schoolers.
Locally the following do Kairos retreats, and I’m sure I missed a bunch:
SJC
Prep
Visi
DJO
Ireton
St Anslems
Carroll
Connelly
Stone Ridge
GZ
