BC’s humble beginnings consisted of being a commuter school for mostly Catholic immigrants new to the country and who settled in Boston.

Over time the college started educating the future elite politicians and judges in the state. BC Law School opened in the early 1900s. The first Irish Catholic Mayor of Boston came from BC, JFKs grandfather.

It started attracting more international students along with students from every state by the 1980s

Why would BCs humble beginnings be a negative to students looking for a quality education? It’s a history that any institute of learning would be proud of.

Agree ND or Georgetown yes. Boston College no way. For what, average outcomes and terrible sports.

well there are plenty of people with more money than you. It's not a significant amount to many.

BC is very upfront that if you can afford to pay, then they expect you to pay. Their FA is for people who actually need it. No one is required to attend the school, people should make the choices that they can afford.

It’s endowment per student and amount if debt that matters from financial standpoint. ND and HC have largest endowment per student and Holy Cross has minimal debt. UChicago is drowning in billions of debt. Due to its age 1700s founding, Georgetown endowment should be higher. ND is top 10 endowment.

BC endowment was pretty much identical in 2024 - 3.7B
But they have released 2025 and are now 4.3B

So, these two school have really similar endowments. Wouldn't characterize either as "way higher". We'll have to wait for Georgetown to release numbers for 2025. They're on a calendar fiscal year so will know after Dec 31. Normally you might think BC's numbers would have also grown since their report was released, but the market is lower and I can't read what digital assets BC's holds (which are much lower).

Williams College with enrollment of 2,500 has bigger endowment than BC. Remember unlike Georgetown, BC was a commuter school until the 1980s and had a poor alumni base not wealthy like ND and Holy Cross. The BC alumni giving rate now is probably half that of HC which at close to 50% is in the top 5 of all colleges. ND endowment is $18 billion vs BC $4 billion and BC has larger enrollment.

Keep in mind that scores are going to drop everywhere as TO phases out. I doubt 25% will be 25% in 2025.
