Project 2025 removes all overtime pay for Police, Firefighters, Nurses etc...
Republicans hate the police.
Wow! You’re really struggling to be relevant. I know LEOs that made $40,000+ in overtime in 2025. I know nurses that take TRIPLE TIME overtime shifts. You keep preaching Project 2025 nonsense when the current Republican administration instituted no tax on overtime. Real life is demonstrably disproving your sad agenda. You keep doing you though.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled parenting discussion.

There are more opportunities like that in NJ and NY where cities and towns run their own governments than here but you find a few of them here too.
Federal LEOs make close to 200k after 10 years. When I was a DOJ lawyer my federal LEO spouse earned more than me.
What moron would work for Pam Bondi?

That's quite a few jobs if the child is male.
Females tend to rarely get killed on the job, around 5% or less of work related deaths are females. 95%+ are males.
Often because men do more dangerous work: like commercial fishing.
Women often choose helping professionals, like child care, which our society undervalues.
Men seek money and/or status.
Police most often due in car crashes. Many without wearing seatbelts.

Federal LEO is a great career with fantastic benefits.
Not any more.
Risking your law license to work there you have to be an idiot.
I thought this was supposed to be a forum full of intelligent people.
What do you not understand about Perjury?
And how in a court of law hand on bible under oath lawyers tend to not lie you think that goes hand and hand with our current DOJ??
Lawyers are quitting left and right and they dam well do not want their names on any lawsuits that the DOJ is doing unless they are willing to lose their bar license. PUBLIC RECORDS do not lie TRump and his shits do all day every day. Bondi and Kash are liars!
You want a kid going into the Trump administration not only are you anti American you are ignorant at best!
Wrong forum. Take it to politics where it belongs.

This all depends on what age the child is
I would be perfectly comfortable if my kid wanted to go into law enforcement
If they’re like, 8 years old? Just say that’s nice honey and move on
If they are 15 and considering it, we will have had discussions their entire lives about the strengths and weaknesses of American law enforcement systems
I have law enforcement in my family, so they could easily talk to their uncles about the actual experiences and difficulties of that career
If they are graduating high school and definitely want to do it then that’s great, I support them, and they have to go to college. I’m from El Paso where a lot of people go into law enforcement in general and college degrees are the standard
I would definitely make sure that federal is the only option (sorry to the first person who responded but ICE is legitimately seen as bottom on the barrel by American law enforcement people (ERO, not HSI of course))
Then you just support them in general
Law enforcement is statistically a very safe job, so I would not be worried about their safety

That means talking about stress, public scrutiny, safety risks, and long term mental health, not just the uniform. I’d encourage ride alongs, honest conversations with officers, and keeping options open, especially when they’re younger, so the choice is informed, not idealized.
