Layoff lawsuit: A federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration from conducting mass layoffs during the government shutdown, a victory for unions that challenged President Trump’s plan to use the fiscal standoff to cut programs and personnel. The administration had already taken the first steps toward dismissing about 4,000 workers, an effort to pressure Democratic lawmakers into dropping their demands for concessions on health care.

The White House did not immediately comment on the ruling that temporarily halted its federal layoffs. But Russell T. Vought, the White House budget director, said in an interview on “The Charlie Kirk Show” airing Wednesday that the layoffs could number around 10,000. That would be “much higher,” as Vought acknowledged, than the 4,000 notices that the Trump administration had already sent out.
So 10k THIS FRIDAY, and then even more on the NEXT FRIDAY? Or 10k and then maybe take a breather from the scythe?
They’re never taking a breather until they dismantle it all
A breather? This is just the beginning. That 4k was a drop in the bucket for what Vought wants. I absolutely believe that they plan to RIF 150k minimum.
What are we supposed to do? I feel like we are just sitting around waiting to lose our jobs. Can’t they just rip the bandaid off at this point?? This sucks
With the recent court temporarily blocking shutdown RIFs, hopefully this will be on pause for a while?
