I’m trying to understand. You’re upset because a scarecrow named Fiyero ended up with a green witch instead of a failed witch in a life sized bubble?

They should have cast Donna Murphy. She would have killed.

Not one teen thought it was appropriate- they thought it was gross. And absolutely no one bought the Fiyero/Elphaba pairing, let alone how Fiyero pointed a weapon at Glinda. Awful character development.
What sex scene? I just got back, nudged my daughter that there was gonna be a sex scene because I heard it here, and there wasn’t.
Well then you’re blind. It was totally implied. Plus Fiyero took off his shirt, Elphaba was disrobing and she laid on his bare chest and they kissed.

I hope you’re joking. Michelle Yeoh is phenomenal. Did you ever see Memoirs of a Geisha?
To be fair, that movie is 20 years old and I have never seen it. But she was in Crazy Rich Asians, and she just won an Oscar recently for everything everywhere all at once, so she's a star.
But yes, she can't sing--and told the director John Chu that, but he wanted her anyway.
I had heard that as well, that she turned down the part multiple times because she said she can't sing. I thought she did okay, considering that, and many of the best performers on Broadway, especially character actors, are not necessarily the best singers.
I wonder why he wanted her so badly?
She isn't much of a singer but she does look like she can kick your @$$.
I liked that feeling of power for this character

I loved the first half. I am not sure if I love the music from the second half. I will listen to the whole soundtrack again.
My teens loved it.
SAME on the bony chest. Went to it last night with my DD and her friend - DD struggled with anorexia all through high school, thankfully is doing well now. But that bony chest was a loud dog whistle and I was just praying through every scene that it didn't spark anything for DD. I know she noticed it - but she and her friend went out for chipotle right after so I'm hopeful we are getting past something like that starting a long struggle with the eating disorder again. We are at the stage where if she slips up it takes weeks, not months/years to set things on a better path - but she definitely doesn't need struggling to eat added to her last two weeks of the semester.

That’s not a sex scene!
To me it is and it had no business in this movie. It gave all of us the ick factor. The teens all thought it was disgusting. Absolutely no one bought the Elphaba/Fiyero pairing.
