No no I think you are right to be mad and surprised with changes that occurred in this round of options. I just think the reflexive need to bash other schools as a response is counterproductive. I support your PTAs advocating for your communities’ needs.


No one is bashing other schools. The issue is schools like Whitman have so much more because of the low farms and SN rates vs. other schools. So, their resources can go to more courses, clubs, sports, etc. vs. other schools have to divert it to the kids who have higher needs.


lol yes read this thread to see the bashing of people at non-DCC schools.

You know very well that school budgets are per pupil, with higher amounts for SN, etc

Why is MCPS leaving so many DCC schools overcrowded? Because it is "us" vs "them" in MoCo and always has been.


Because there is a huge divide in what DCC schools and W schools have in terms of course offerings, clubs, sports, music, etc. and all students get their needs met vs. in the DCC only a select few do.

DCC families don't care about Whitman, BCC or WJ. They want DCC to remain the same bubble. If we wanted those schools, we'd move.

There is no way to effectively push back on this rigged set of options without pointing out how all 4 options benefit the richer schools over the poorer schools. Of course we will say what we want for our home schools but we are also going to point out the big picture here rather than let them pit us against each other.

Whitman is in their own bubble. They got put with the schools they did, knowing that there would be few spots available at Whitman and they will keep all their programs, classes, clubs, and sports and not be impacted in any way. They really have nothing to do with this as there is zero impact.
