I agree with both of these posts. I would apologize only because it costs basically nothing to apologize and move on. Unless you needed your mom to run in to get the food while you double parked, would have been better to leave your mom at the house. Or at least a note on the door that says "Diane -- sorry just ran out to pick up Larla's chicken nuggets so we aren't late for show. Will be back in a flash to get you."
If you really want to make it up to her, invite her over for something when your mom isn't there.

PPS Whoever was saying that they should have just skipped the chicken nuggets has never dealt with a tween with anxiety. Choral/orchestra concert night was THE WORST at my house, and not helped by the fact that our choral/orchestra/band directors were pitching their pre-concert message for the kids that ignore everything, not the kids that stress over everything (e.g., "If you are not on stage in full concert dress by 6 p.m. sharp, you will receive an F on the performance in my class." -- Despite the fact that I NEVER saw this happen in 10 years of MS performances, my anxious kids could not be convinced they would not fail if they were not on the stage at 5:55.).
