And that's reasonable, because most long haul international carriers no longer have separate first and business class cabins. They have pretty much merged into a single business class cabin with lie flat seats that are nicer than "first class" seats were 30 years ago.

This is an incredible string of comments. You say a business class ticket to an unspecified place in Europe the last week of November is $8000/person. You also say multiple flights on SAS are sold out for those dates in business class.

When asked about the sold out portion, you give incomplete information that is still wrong. When presented with some flights during the week, you say "yeah but we would only go on the weekend". When presented with flights on the weekend you say "yeah but that's not where we are going". When presented with an option with a layover in Zurich, you say you wouldn't take that, but apparently you are going somewhere that requires a layover, if it's not Copenhagen, since that's SAS's hub. How about this- you say where you are going, on what dates, and then somehow we can examine the original claim that "Round trip business is $8,000 plus on our route".

Just looked for business class to Florence (popular spot for study abroad, figured), Nov 25, returning Dec 1, on Swiss through Zurich. $3,100 roundtrip in lie flat business.

If I’m going to Europe, with a job and other kids, I’m going weekend to weekend, not random weekdays. Most kids can miss Thanksgiving week of school, but we wouldn’t be taking off the following Monday.

$3200 on Swiss Nov 22-30.

I guess that’s nice if one is going to Florence, but we aren’t, and the fares for the route we need is 8,000 plus four round trip business per person. Not sure why you want to debate this. I’m not saying there isnt cheaper business seats to Europe, but there are also routes and time period when it is pretty expensive.

It appears you are going to Copenhagen for that last week of November? Looks like you can go with a quick stop in Zurich for $4700. Yeah I wouldn't like an extra 3 hours, but seems pretty reasonable to save $3300/person.

As I said, we are using a combination of points and cash so paying less than that.

Okay, now even more confused, because Nov 22-29 nonstop on SAS business IAD-CPH is $4500.

Copenhagen is not our final destination.
