Dinner does not have to be chicken breast, green beans, and a scoop of mashed potatoes. Once in awhile, dinner can be a selection of finger foods. Have some cheese and crackers, veggies and hummus, some empanadas or spanakopita or meatballs etc. You will be fine.

I can't picture navigating a monopoly game alongside a steak and potato dinner. Finger foods seem much easier as people will be circling around, using their hands to play, grabbing a bite when its not their turn. With a sit down dinner I expect emphasis on conversation, while game night suggests the food takes a backseat. Serve dinner if you want but as a guest, I wouldn't expect that.

Appetizers or hand held food all the way. I belong to a mahjong club and we have food at some events. It’s hummus, maybe some wraps, chips, bead, sometimes a salad. The salad does get difficult to eat when you’re playing but the rest you can manage while playing. Not every meal needs to be a full sit down affair.

Notify people on the invitation and they’ll adjust accordingly
