I would caution against moving the session early afternoon on the Wednesday. Maybe move it to the morning?

Mid-day and early afternoon can be scorching hot, with high heat indexes, etc. Kids and spectators could have heat exhaustion and heat stroke

The argument that there wouldn’t be enough officials to go around on Sunday is overblown IMO. There were 17 seperate Divisional relays and each had a full set of officials. Only need 1/17th of them for the ASR meet.

The NVSL required, as a minimu, that officials be 'patched' and certified by the league to work higher meets outside of the typical Saturday morning dual meets. I'm guessing that requirement alone substanially lessens the official eligibility pool and would be another obstacle to moving toward a Sunday.

And this should stay in place. You can’t just have a random parent who trained for two hours officiating at an All Star Level meet.

At our pool there are many, many officials who don’t have the skills to do a high level meet. They are helping with volunteer hours during the dual meets and b meets which is great and needed. There is a difference between a dual meet and all stars.

I think the point is that most officials have year round swimmers who will be at the PVS champs meets on the weekend, so moving ASR to a weekend will run the risk of the majority of officials being tied up in College Park.

Alternatively, you could make the meet shorter by only doing top 12. There tends to be a notable dropoff in times between the top 12 and the bottom 6. Yes, 12th, 13th, and 14th places can be dead close. Point is you can't satisfy all the stakeholders with whatever approach you take.

Smaller pools and lower divisions would be generally shut out. Having enough spots to (in theory) accommodate all divisions is important to the NVSL.

True but not all officials are created the same or ready to handle a big meet like ASR. They are pretty selective when they pick key officials for that. Last thing you want is someone who has no idea what they are doing. We had that issue at a meet and multiple teams got screwed over as a result. [/quote]

I’d think more officials would be available on a weekend day than a mid-week day. Work travel happens. Deadlines happen. Fiscal years get closed out and court dates happen. I’m not sure how many devout, never miss a service Protestant officials or Sunday meet officials would be ruled out, but I have to think it would be balanced by people who weren’t available midweek that would be on a weekend.

I think some of you are forgetting that the NVSL is a summer recreational league. They are not going to cater to PVS meets, vacations, holidays, etc. It is 5 weeks long. You either choose to be home for all of it or you don’t.

Sunday early afternoon so it won’t affects swimmers that go to church ( like my friends), and hopefully to avoid July 4th week or weekend if possible for major nvsl events, since people will be traveling, and there will be less swimmers available.
