I don’t think him not being an educator would be an impediment.

So you’d support a CEO that had never worked for a corporation if your stocks depended on it?

Running a large university is similar to being a CEO. Many academics do, unfortunately, not have that type of experience. Mitch Daniels was not an academic before he became president of Purdue.

One of a university president’s main jobs is fundraising. You have to be likable. Nobody likes Cucinelli. The advancement folks must be reeling.

If staff doesn’t want to be there then they are free to leave but doubtful. So many academics need jobs so I am sure many would love to teach there.

Go back to Liberty and try a new ice cream truck or something. Let the adults take care of UVA.

Look at what happened at UF. It’s stunning UVA might be going down that path.

Yikes. I’m glad this happening now before my 2026 grad applies. We are OOS and no way will pay $$$ for right wing propaganda

If they were complying then he should not step down. I am not sure what the answer was? He seemed well liked and it is a good school. Surely he would understand that he cannot create admissions based on his personal feelings? Is there something more here?

Not according to the Orange Guy.

Not law, Executive Order. They are not the same.

And Scattergrams now identify major so easy to link up who is who with IG posts. This is coming from a mid tier private.

+1000 This is what frustrates those of us with high stats kids that are getting WL in state at UVA.

My DS got rejected....who has over 1500 sat and over 4.6 GPA. just disappointed

It wouldn’t happen immediately, but there could be a mass exodus of faculty and staff if things get bad. That could erode the core product and might lead to rankings taking a big hit. In other words, things will be fine, could get bad, could take decades to recover from. This is uncharted territory.

Something tells me the civil rights leaders FELT the Jim Crow Laws were unjust, and tbey did something about it.

+1 also “disabling DEI” is not a law.

I am the PP. I was being sarcastic. In this day and age, it wouldn’t surprise me if a non-educator was named president. If that happened, then we could assume that DEI was alive an well still,… they wouldn’t be getting the position through merit.
