Why would someone leave a job where you get a pension and can retire at 50? They have great healthcare, dental, vision and life insurance. After they retire they can go into the private sector and make more money.

It’s true, you can’t force people to have self respect.

When the right gets more votes than the left can overcome with cheating the left has a mental breakdown. The cheating networks are being dismantled which is going to make for interesting elections.

At the end of the day, it’s part of the mission of the agency. There are legal means to becoming a US citizen that are available to everyone.

Is the ICE agency perfect? Are all ICE agents perfect? No and No.

Is the police force perfect? Are all police officers perfect? No and No.

Is the military perfect? Are all members of the military perfect? No and No.

BUT....shaming them - calling for them to be defunded or to all resign is wrong.

When they stop wearing MASKS we will stop shaming them. No law enforcement needs masks!
When they stop lying we will stop shaming them. Walking into public spaces and claiming they have "warrents" when they don't is not acceptable period!
They are already over budget by $1 Billion so yes they need to be defunded!
No, if they don't wear masks, Democrats will publish their names and attack them and their families at their homes.

Also, name the last 10 DHS agents that were attacked at their homes?

What’s that? You got nothing, right?

There hasn’t been a single instance of what you just claimed, you know that, and yet you didn’t even hesitate before claiming it as justification anyway.

God, we really do suck as a country. I’m so depressed for our children.

Just look up the photo of the three DHS agents at Dodger Stadium last week. If your blood doesn’t boil at the sight of these individuals, masked and ‘roided out like freakshows, you don’t deserve the freedoms that have been fought for.

No to masks. Absolutely unacceptable. We have AMPLE protections in place to adequately protect these individuals, they don’t get to also hide their faces and badges.

That would be a legitimate concern. HOWEVER... currently, the overwhelming majority of people being targeted by ICE are harmless farm workers, busboys, cooks and dishwashers, hospitality industry housekeeping staff, construction and maintenance workers, and so on, with absolutely no connection to narcoterrorists or other crooks.
maybe, but ICE is being targeted by Democrats' street militias.

Even if not available to some people, it’s fine! We can’t feed and clothe the whole world.

ICE today is the absolute worst of our goon tendencies. They should be brought under control. It is no longer (if it ever was) a place for law and order people guided by a strong sense of ethics with a service mentality. It is now a refuge for uncontrolled thugs and bullies.

Not OP, but are you really asking such a stupid question? You yourself said "in the U.S. illegally".

It's like asking a police officer if they think all rapists, drug dealers (basically anyone who breaks the law) should be arrested and put in jail.

Can't wait to see OP's response.

Oh I was very intentional.
Common sense is lost on so many people today. They think trespassing is ok if you don’t steal or rob. I wouldn’t be surprised if even some ICE agents, past and present, support amnesty of some kind.

Are you aware that many entered legally (under Temporary Protected Status which was an immigration category created by President Bush allowing the GOP to dodge tackling immigration reform) but because TPS is under the whims of the executive, many have been made "illegal" (after settling here with jobs and paying taxes) with the status yanked back? It is not so simple as to label people "illegal" and paint a black/white picture.

Yes I am aware.
I think the asylum loophole is exploited shamelessly, and many people on TPS have been here for decades and start byatching and moaning the moment they think they might be asked to leave.
So while I agree we should not lump everyone together, I am also not against sending all these phony asylum seekers back

Again, I’m a rule of law advocate. There is a legal means to immigrate here. So yes, in theory, I am ok with deporting anyone here illegally through the lawful process.

Thank you! I hope your colleagues will be able work effectively and efficiently within the rule of law one day.

What service?! It’s a paid job. And it’s often a disservice since the people they throw out do jobs Americans deem too lowly to ever do themselves. Ask farms and restaurants that are massively understaffed at present. Let’s not pretend that OP was risking his life pulling people out of burning buildings.

I retired in 2014. No to boast, but I put many many bad criminals in jail during my 30-year career (gang members, drug cartel members, corrupt cops, people exploiting children, terrorists attempting to obtain WMD components, former foreign regime members who killed or tortured hundreds of people, etc). It wasn’t just immigration work.

Thank you

+100

So much judgment. Some might learn something that could help improve the situation.

I’ve appreciated OPs comments and his work. For those how dont bother reading, OP retired 10 years ago and was doing important work, unlike what they are doing now.

My question, how do we get people to leave ICE? How do we make it so toxic, people leave? What type of people sign up for this job and how do we reach them morally?

It will be nearly impossible. The job market for non-law enforcement positions suck; young folks, former military, etc. are lining up for hours at DHS (ICE) job fairs.
