I will assume that you are talking about the Wahoo Skip (they had one other Skip at MVSA who doesn't appear to coach there anymore). This is not direct experience (my DD never made it into MVSA), but we had other opportunities to know coach Skip. He was in charge of our division during the MVSA rec league, we often see him in tournaments or refing HS games. He is very nice and approachable. We know players who were playing on Wahoo and were very happy with him. I never heard anything negative about him. However, to have him as a coach, you need to make Wahoo, which is a tall order.

PP here - not was a typo I didn't mean to include it.

At tryouts there are

-returners
-beginners without fundamentals
-those who attended clinics
-those who didn't attend clinics but are above average than the rest of the girls.

The tryout registration typically includes the returning players. It would be weird for the club to report the number of registrations excluding the returning players.
30% of those players are beginners who close their eyes and cross their fingers that the club will see in them something that's not there. They will end up on the bottom court and won't be invited back to the second day of tryouts. It happens every year and will keep happening every year. Who could possibly know that MOCO has a bunch of club players to pick from and is not likely to offer a spot to players without club experience?

Most coaches are positive up to the point when they have to place your name on the roster. At that point, they will talk about how much talent they had at the tryouts and how difficult the decisions were.

I guess that means wait listed. MOCO limits the number of players at tryouts to make sure that everyone has a spot on one of the courts. There will be no players waiting on the sidelines to get on the court. It doesn't mean that the coaches are watching all players: whoever ends up on the 3rd court can say MOCO goodbye.
