When I need a trim, which for me means a straight cut, I ask my teenager to do it. I don’t have a fancy cut, just a few layers, but that I go to the salon. I pay around $50 for a wash and cut. I do not get my hair dried or styled or colored.

120 for a straight trim is highway robbery. Stylists are getting greedy over what they are worth and customers are noticing and going less and less to them.

I’m paying $70 for my teen to get a trim and I don’t even live in a major metropolitan area. Prices for hair services have gone through the roof.

$250 plus tip.

I've never paid more than $25.

50 euros is 57 dollars. Which is in line with what a lot of folks are quoting here and a lot more than this $20 you are paying at the "barber."

You know that "Europe" is a big place, right? Maybe "all that stuff" is cheaper in places like Hungary and Poland, but it certainly won't be in -- oh, say, London or Geneva.

She works for herself. I guess she can charge whatever she wants. But I won’t use her again obviously. And yeah I get that it’s an easy cut. I have gotten this same cut in many places and even in the nicest places haven’t been charged that much. But lesson learned.

Please write a yelp review. Your venting here is not going to make a dent. Your yelp review will. You can just mention that ask about the prices before you get the service. I have started doing it as I make appointments over the phone. I will unashamedly ask what the rate is. And if the rate is on the website, I will confirm if the price is current.

Service providers are hiking their prices all the time now and you need to ask. Also, stop patronizing the expensive salons. Let them lose customers. Go to hair cuttery type of places and get your trim from there - especially if you have an uncomplicated hair cut. Also, learn to use a store bought box color for your hair. FFS - it is not hard. What do you have to lose?
