This school is as well resourced as any Ivy. I believe the endowment is around $12 billion which exceeds all three of the Ivy peers mentioned - even Cornell which is much larger. So much to like about the school. Statistically the student body is just as strong as the other schools (test scores etc). Name recognition is certainly worse versus the other schools. Many people don’t know it but these are also the same people who probably can’t name all the Ivy League schools or just aren’t familiar with the college landscape nowadays. Outcomes seem to be excellent nonetheless. In terms of whether it’s prestigious this is just dumb- 12 pct acceptance rate with avg SAT well into the 1500s. It’s an elite school.
Congratulations!
DS is also eyeing on WashU and has talked to the school coach on recruiting. He was told not to submit an SAT unless it's over 1530. Did your kid submit SAT? If yes, would you mind sharing the score? Thanks.
DS was told 1500 minimum. Did not submit his 1430. Had multiple 5s on AP tests which we did submit but only after “strong” pre-read came back. Applied ED1 and got in. Very strong but not flawless transcript, mostly As, high (but not super high) rigor, one outstanding non-athletic achievement and generally goods ECs. We are all very excited! Such a high quality school in so many ways. DS feels very lucky to have the opportunity.

WashU = Northeastern/Lehigh/Emory
WashU < Any Ivies or near Ivies
Princeton seems to think otherwise at least
https://ir.princeton.edu/other-university-data/common-data-set
Columbia not included but Wustl is?
I guess they needed a bottom anchor benchmark for wustl
It’s always the ones who didn’t go to any of those who speak like this. What a weird thing to say
Went to LSJU but nice try.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:washu’s peer score is 4.2 on us news. how does that compare to the other schools mentioned?
It's 4.1 actually and is the same as NYU

To OP's question, Cornell is much more famous than the other three internationally. It's in the same league as Harvard and Stanford, and more famous than all the other Ivies.
No issues there, wustl's applications have plateaued or even decreasing while pretty much every other top private is growing.
