Anonymous wrote:I totally get the OP's anger. Yes it could have been an accident but frankly I would not be shocked if it was done on purpose by the 6 year old. I was at a kids park once sitting on a bench under a tree house and those rope web crawling tunnels. I felt water dripping on me and thought a bird had pooped in me. Turns out a 5-7 year old kid was up in that tunnel spitting at me. On purpose. And honestly the parent's reaction here makes me think it was not a simple accident. What normal human being, when their kid hurts another person, doesn't come and apologize? Wtf.
But there is no way to prove anything, so this falls under that gray zone of can't do much. It also is a situation where the reaction of the adults could have maybe affected how OP felt about the whole situation. If the other parent had checked on her, apologized, looked modified, offered to help, then maybe OP would actually be more willing to accept that sh*t happens.

No, OP’s health insurance pays for it.

100%. i’m not sure why all these people think the family of the kid who dropped the water bottle is just free from responsibility here. That’s not how this works.
No. this is why you have health insurance.
Most people have co-pays and deductibles. It’s easy to spend $400-500+ at the ER when you are getting a CT SCAN and/or MRI. Most insurance policies don’t have a $0 ER copay. Why does OP need to pick up the bill when concussions are brain injuries and serious and she has to live with that. Even mild concussions have short and long term health implications, and OP’s concussion was moderate.
Exactly for many many people even with health insurance this could actually cost thousands not to mention time out of work.
Thousands for a mild concussion!!!!!!! I'm glad the child's mother didn't provide her information. You sound insane.
If someone backs into your car today and you get a concussion or your car gets damaged, I hope they drive away because accidents happen. You’ll live, you may live differently, but it’s not there problem! Great attitude. Hope you live it either by choice or by karma.
That’s what car insurance is for and that’s why we are all required by law to carry it. The same with medical. Comparing this to a car accident is exactly why you’re getting the reaction you’re getting. Those things are not the same and the whole analogy is ridiculous. It’s like comparing a paper cut to a stabbing.

My goodness. Accidents happen. Most of us wouldn't have gone to the ER for something like this. What do you expect the family to do? Pay OPs wages for a few weeks? JFC
i’m sorry-you wouldn’t go the ER when you are hit in the head from 12 feet up with a water bottle?? And have a terrible headache after that turns out to be a concussion? Wow…
What do they do for concussions at the ER?
Nothing. Give you a paper that talks about concussions. The same as when your child gets hit on the head at school and goes to the school nurse.
